God is faithful — not just in public breakthroughs, but in unseen seasons where obedience continues even when outcomes are uncertain.

When the Pandemic Took a Job — but Not a Promise

More than three years ago, before the pandemic disrupted economies and careers worldwide, my son entered a defining season of faith.

He lost his job as a supervisor in the telco industry when the U.S. ban on Huawei reverberated through local telecommunications firms, and his position was among the cuts. In that moment, it seemed like everything was shrinking — his role, his sense of stability, and the visible pathways forward.

Yet in that same season, we had just re-started an Office Go Group (Bible Study) in our barangay. My son served as my Assistant Leader. We encouraged him to press into God’s Word and hold fast to His promises. We also reaffirmed a vow to faithfully give to the church’s ReMain building fund. On top of that, we continued serving together through the Monday group of the servanthood ministry.

“If we are faithless, He remains faithful—for He cannot deny Himself.”

Faithful in the Small Things

God is faithful — a quiet testimony of faith, obedience, and answered prayers during a season of waiting

Though unemployed for months, my son continued to honor his ReMain vow. He applied for job openings. He networked. But applications went unanswered; interviews ended without offers; rejections slowly became routine.

God is faithful: Testimony #1- A New Job Out Of The Blue

Then, out of the blue, an opportunity came — one he did not even apply for. His CV was requested through a referral. After interviews with HR and operations, he was accepted.

The role was one rank lower than his previous position, but the compensation was better. More importantly, he continued — and eventually increased — his vow.

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived—the things God has prepared for those who love Him.”

God is faithful: Testimony #2- Passed Certification, Salary Adjustment and Leadership Role in the Waiting

Two years later, like many millennials, restlessness set in. He shared with me, “Pa, some of my colleagues are either resigning or quiet quitting due to lack of growth. I’m giving my all, but I don’t see progress yet.”

I gave the same advice I share with mentees and practice myself:

“Stay at least two years. Often, opportunities open up for those who endure past the uncomfortable season.”

He stayed. Soon after, his company invited him to take a U.S.-certified professional exam costing about ₱35,000.00 — fully sponsored. He passed.

He then received a salary adjustment, became eligible for a leadership role, and was promised another movement within six months.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

Today, I’m writing this post as a memorial of thanksgiving to our God. Not only for what God did for my son, but also for the family. All glory to Him. God is faithful.

💡 The ASK Takeaway (Spiritual Intelligence)

This testimony reflects how faith matures when aligned with the ASK Framework:

  • Align your aspirations with God’s word and His promises, not your circumstances.
  • Strengthen your character by obeying God’s word consistently, especially when waiting.
  • Kickstart growth by growing your relationship with Jesus, our Savior.
