Achieving our goal is important, but equally important is using common sense.
It’s important to push ourselves to reach our goals, but it’s equally important to listen to our bodies and those around us.
Recently, I learned this lesson the hard way. Last Sunday, I planned for a 7k night run to aid in my recovery after completing a 15k run a few days prior. However, I tripped and fell badly during the run.
Despite experiencing pain, I pushed through and completed my goal against the advice of my wife, and the dictates of common sense. As a result, my injury worsened, and I experienced even more pain, making it difficult to move for the next two days.
This experience taught me that we should not let our egos get in the way. Instead, we should listen to the advice of those who care about us. It’s easy to get caught up in the moment and want to push ourselves to the limit, but sometimes, taking a step back and prioritizing and using common sense is the best thing we can do.
